Home Search Topics Contact About | Vex Not YourselfWe vex ourselves by sinning and by doubting God. We also indirectly vex ourselves by holding onto our anger at others. The vexation caused directly by the sin of others against us is of short duration. Some of the vexation in my life has been begun by others and prolonged by me. Most of the vexation in my life has been caused by me, directly or indirectly. Whether the vexation was begun by others or by me, all of it is increased by doubting some truth about God or from God. I sometimes think that I don*t have what I need. Or that I don*t get what I need soon enough. God promises to supply all my need. He is all-knowing. He knows what I need and WHEN I need it. Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Sometimes we need medicine that doesn*t taste good. Sometimes we need things in our life that we don*t want. God knows what we need. When bad things happen to us we have a hard time believing that God loves us or that He is giving us what we need. If we can just remember two simple truths, we need never to be vexed. The truths that we need to remember are that God loves us and promises to supply ALL OUR NEED. All means one hundred percent. That word need is singular. We think that we have a multitude of needs. But we just have one need, GOD*S SUPPLY. The Apostle Paul had a lot of worse problems than we do but he remembered well those two truths and he was content. Philippians 4:11: Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Charles Haddon Spurgeon on Isaiah 33:16: His place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.
